The first kind of loyalty is the loyalty of convenience.

The kind of loyalty that says...

"I am going to look around... sure... maybe be in someone else’s tribe by stealth ... be with an individual on the "quiet"... and probably will switch... I will keep it... "secret."

Switching is risky,... it is time consuming... switching means a new account with a new person... a new tribe... of moving my resources... switching means I might make a mistake or lose my security or have to defend a new decision... expose why I am not loyal to my to my existing relationship or my tribe... betrayal leaves a "bitter" after taste... both for the betrayer and the betrayed.

This sort of loyalty is growing... the loyalty of convenience who can offer the best deal... the best option... the best price for the betrayal of your loyalty... for THEIR convenience and you walk into and accept their "deal" unaware.

After all the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence... is it not?

The "deal" is so tempting.

Then there is the other kind of loyalty that says...

"I am not even looking... I am the kind of person that sticks with people who stick with me." 

This is the loyalty of someone who does not even want to know that there is a better deal somewhere else... because... after all he or she in it for the long haul... they "invest" in themselves to make what they have the best... the best relationship... the best tribe... the best deal... they are willing to "invest" their time.

The problem with the loyalty of convenience is that the individual is always tempted to look and look some more and the tribe or the individual is always working to build barriers... barriers that do not necessarily increase satisfaction and merely build a wall of hassle and imprisonment around the now trapped individual... that does not endear "loyalty" that breeds "resentment" and rebellion!

Conflict within the relationship and the tribe... you were "suckered" into by the deal.

The beauty of the other kind of loyalty... the loyalty of identity and satisfaction... is that the man and woman who is not even looking is committed... as committed to the relationship as the other individual is as committed to the relationship as the tribe is... they "invest" in themselves... invest in relationship... invest in the tribe and they in turn are INVESTED in.

It is a mutual investment of RESPECT... of FREEDOM... of CHOICE... of COMMITMENT... to the BENEFIT of the individual... relationship... and the tribe

You earn this kind of loyalty... you cannot manipulate or architect it... you can only create this loyalty when it is built upon... MUTUAL TRUST!

And TRUST is the foundation of ALL relationship and that takes TIME!

One kind of loyalty knows the grass it is already standing on is green... the other kind of loyalty is always looking over fences.

You can only focus on creating one sort of loyalty at a time.

So which LOYALTY are you?
