What Makes People Take Action?

In this article I wanted to cover a question that I get asked frequently about one of the main causes that makes men and women motivated to take action.

It has to do with covering someones pain points when trying to influence or persuade them to take some course of action. 

Now if you are not sure abut what I mean by pain points... let me back up one step and explain it in a sentence or two. 

The pain points are those uncomfortable areas that would drive someone to make a change in the first place... they are usually the reason that someone is seeking a solution to their problem

So if you want to influence and persuade others to do something... one of the best ways that you can accomplish this is by accentuating their pain point with the idea of focusing them to your solution... provided of course that you have a solution that can help and benefit them. 

And remember... you are not trying to create this pain... you only want to only uncover it. 

And how do you uncover it? 



You Ask Open Questions 


Questions that will help them feel the pain that is there and enable them to the point where they want to do something about it. 

Ideally you want them to feel sick and tired of the pain and they want to change their situation and a point to note here... you have a challenge ahead of you if you are dealing with a masochist and I would not advise this approach unless you have a real deep understanding of psychology! 

And you want to ask questions that will uncover future pain if they do not do anything about it now... you do not ask the type of questions that will make them feel bad about wasted opportunity or time... you ask questions that will bring out the pain of the situation without making them feel like a jerk. 

Because even though you may have the most logical solution to their pain that exists... if you make someone feel stupid or feel like a jerk in the process... they will not accept your solution no matter how good it is and how much it will benefit them because you will create the exact opposite to what you are wanting them to do. 

They will resist you... why? 

Because their decision to accept your solution will be based on their emotions and how they feel about what you are proposing and they are not going to align with you if you make them feel bad about themselves.
