The merchants of mediocrity want you to fit in... be average... they will educate... and push you to fit in... to dress alike... to use the same tools... to conform to the plan... to fit the format... to become an economic unit... in the economic machine.
They are the high school teacher in love with academia... the politician who wants to control you by winning your vote... and the factory boss who needs you to fit in with the production line.
"Get with the program... that is the way we do things around here."
There is the productivity guru who wants you to get faster... not better... forget quality of life... we want more and faster... and faster.... and more cost effective... and social media is driving us... with the message...
"If your not seen... you are not there."
The safest thing you can do... it seems... is to fit in... be part of the herd.
Total deniability.
"Hey... I am just doing what the masses do."
The masses are average.... and by definition... we have a MASSIVE... disposable... surplus of average.
Do not be different just to be different... be different to be BETTER!
"Category of ONE"... is a choice
Do what works now... or "invest" in building what will work later.
You can avoid criticism... or seek it out.
You can follow the manual... or re-write the existing manual... or write a completely NEW manual.
When you define the category... when the category is you and you alone... your issues tend to disappear.
At least they do if the category is... ONE... that enough of the right people want to engage with... ONE!
Faced with the opportunity to become the category of one... most always hesitate... most always compromise... most always dumb it down... to play it safer.
You may very well become a category of ONE... that is ONE alone... yet you will never become a category of ONE... if you run with the pack.
So the "question" is...
Do you "fit In"... and "get with the program"... or STAND OUT as the exceptional... CATEGORY OF ONE?
The INFLUENCER... who can change... average.
