There is though...a cost of speaking up of course... the cost of being wrong... or rubbing someone the wrong way... the cost of “challenging”... those who fear change... or merely in living with the uncertainty of what will happen next... the risk of penalty... for speaking your voice.
There is also a cost to being banal... average... well enough... that cost is just as real... it is the cost... of boring others... it is the cost of being... “discounted”... just another “face in the crowd”..., of dumping... “me too”... on men and women... who have something better to do with their time... and especially... the cost of living in hiding... giving in to your fear.
You want to speak... yet... your voice is “strangled”... in your throat... fear... throttles your very words... and you play it safe... the double pain of mediocrity... and anonymity.
Every day you can wonder... and worry about whether … your “voice”... is worth it.... not whether or not the microphone you use is working... you fret... whether it is worth using at all... are you “listened” too... are you "heard"... in the social media desert... of white noise?
It is much easier to spend a lot of time making your microphone louder... than it is working on making your message more compelling.
The path of chiming in... is safe... easy... and carries little apparent risk... and less reward for you.
And for others... the “Dynamic Lifers”... The New Rain Makers... who are choosing to dig deep... focusing more on REAL content... and less on “packaging.”
That in choosing to speak with your AUTHENTIC voice... walk YOUR path... is where both risk... and the GREATER reward lives.
